After splenectomy, the blood count shows a reactive rise: thrombocytosis and leukocytosis. The film shows red-cell inclusions that the spleen would normally remove: Howell-Jolly bodies, target cells and Heinz bodies. Leukopenia is not expected, so C is the exception. The cohort sources confirm post-splenectomy thrombocytosis and Howell-Jolly bodies as features of hyposplenism.
