LLQ pain without diffuse pain or peritonitis suggests uncomplicated (sigmoid) diverticulitis, which is treated conservatively with antibiotics. Colonoscopy is the investigation for symptomatic diverticulosis, not for acute diverticulitis; the imaging for acute diverticulitis is CT. Colonoscopy is therefore not the next step in the acute attack.
