Never accept a referral diagnosis of 'hemorrhoids' without your own assessment. Take a full history and do a full examination: general exam, abdominal exam, DRE and anoscopy/proctoscopy. This excludes other causes of the symptoms, such as fissure or a rectal mass, before you choose treatment. A brief history with PR only (C) is incomplete.
