The type of aphasia is decided clinically: he cannot talk but follows verbal commands, so comprehension is intact and output is lost = expressive (Broca's) aphasia.

  • Receptive (Wernicke's) aphasia means fluent speech with poor comprehension; global aphasia means he could neither speak nor follow commands.
  • The temporo-parietal CT location would suggest a receptive aphasia, but the clinical findings do not fit it.

The stem contradicts itself: the CT site (left temporo-parietal) is where a receptive (Wernicke) lesion would be, while the bedside findings describe an expressive aphasia. Exams usually go by the clinical findings (C), but a key of A is possible.
