Stool osmotic gap = 290 − 2 × (stool Na⁺ + stool K⁺) = 290 − 2 × (30 + 20) = 290 − 100 = 190 mOsm/kg.
- A gap above 100 points to an osmotic diarrhea. A low gap (<50) points to a secretory diarrhea.
- 250 (D) comes from forgetting to multiply by 2. 50 (A) is just Na⁺ + K⁺.
