For suspected pneumothorax the first imaging test is a chest X-ray, looking for absent lung markings and a visible pleural line. CT chest is reserved for when the CXR is inconclusive but suspicion stays high, or to look for underlying lung disease. A V/Q scan is a test for pulmonary embolism. (If tension pneumothorax is suspected clinically, decompress first instead of waiting for imaging.)

ليش كل خيار صح أو غلط

  • A ليش غلط

A chest CT is for when the CXR is inconclusive but suspicion stays high (e.g. a small pneumothorax), so it is not the first test.

  • C ليش غلط

A V/Q scan is a PE test, reserved for when CTPA is contraindicated or inconclusive; it is not used to image a pneumothorax.

  • D ليش صح

The first imaging test for suspected pneumothorax is a chest X-ray (an expiratory film), which can show absent lung markings and a detached pleural line.
