The red flags for CRC are hematochezia/melena, altered bowel habits, unexplained weight loss and unexplained iron-deficiency anemia. Blood mixed with stool points to a source above the anal canal, unlike streaks on the surface. Post-defecation bleeding with anal pain (A) suggests a fissure, and bleeding with pus discharge (D) suggests abscess or fistula.
