الإجابة: A. High anion gap metabolic acidosis with appropriate (compensatory) respiratory alkalosis

✓ مطابق للمصدر Nephrology 🌷.pdf · p. 48

pH 7.29 with HCO3 15 = metabolic acidosis. Anion gap = 132 − (99 + 15) = 18, above the normal 8–12, so it is a high anion gap metabolic acidosis. The low PCO2 (29) with RR 26 is the expected respiratory compensation by hyperventilation.

  • By Winter's formula (1.5×15 + 8 = 30.5 ± 2), a PCO2 of 29 is appropriate, so there is no second respiratory disorder (B and C are wrong).
  • D is wrong because the gap is high, not normal.
