For methicillin-sensitive S. aureus endocarditis/bacteremia the drug of choice is an IV anti-staphylococcal penicillin (oxacillin, nafcillin, flucloxacillin); vancomycin is reserved for MRSA. Clindamycin, oral levofloxacin and aztreonam are not appropriate for MSSA endocarditis.
