الإجابة: A. No over-penetration: the vertebrae behind the heart are just visible
Film quality is checked by rotation, inspiration, projection and exposure (penetration). Correct penetration means the vertebral bodies are just visible through the cardiac silhouette. Adequate inspiration needs about 9–10 posterior ribs (not 4) above the diaphragm, the costophrenic angles should be visible and sharp, and the scapulae/arms are moved out of the lung fields rather than placed in front of the chest.

To check penetration, the outline of the vertebral bodies should be visible through the cardiac silhouette, and the intervertebral spaces should be visible on a good-quality film.

On a normal film the costophrenic angles should be sharp and clear without blunting, so they must be visible. Blunted angles suggest pleural effusion.

A good inspiratory film shows at least nine posterior ribs above the right diaphragm (9-10), not four. Four ribs would mean a poor inspiratory effort.
