الإجابة: D. Decreases bone resorption

✓ مطابق للمصدر view-material.pdf · p. 129

Denosumab is a RANKL inhibitor: blocking RANKL stops osteoclast activation, so it decreases bone resorption and lowers calcium. That is why it is used with IV fluids and bisphosphonates for malignancy-related hypercalcaemia, and why it can cause hypocalcaemia. It does not act on PTH or on renal calcium excretion, and increasing bone resorption would raise calcium further.

ليش كل خيار صح أو غلط

  • A ليش غلط

Inhibiting PTH secretion is the action of calcimimetics such as cinacalcet (a different drug used in hyperparathyroidism); this patient has malignancy-related hypercalcaemia.

  • B ليش غلط

Increasing urinary calcium excretion is what IV saline and furosemide do; the source lists it as a separate step from the drugs that inhibit bone resorption.

  • C ليش غلط

Increased bone resorption (osteoclast activity) is how excess PTH raises serum calcium; a drug used to lower calcium must do the opposite.
