الإجابة: A. Antibiotics
In an acute COPD exacerbation, the core treatment is oxygen, bronchodilators, systemic steroids and antibiotics when infection is suggested (e.g. more sputum purulence, severe exacerbation). Antibiotics shorten recovery and reduce relapse and treatment failure. IV magnesium is an asthma-exacerbation therapy, and an inhaled steroid (fluticasone) or chest physiotherapy is not an acute add-on.

Antibiotics are given in AECOPD when there are signs of bacterial infection; they can shorten recovery, reduce early relapse and treatment failure, and shorten hospital stay.
